The Keith McHeffey Foundation was created to keep the spirit of Keith McHeffey and countless other local victims of the terrorist attacks on The World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 alive through a variety of charitable functions. Keith was a kind and giving person that will never be forgotten by his family or friends. Keith spent his life giving of himself to others. Now, we are giving back to the community in his good name. His life was a testament of "how to live".
To this end, the Foundation has created a permanent memorial to area victims in the newly renovated Memorial Field at Piping Rock Park in Rumson, NJ.
The Foundation also awards memorial scholarships in his name to students at Rumson Fair Haven Regional High School and has assisted many of the youth sports programs.
The KDM 3 Mile Fun Run takes place the Sunday before St. Patrick's Day at Donovan's Reef in Sea Bright, NJ. Since the first race in 2002, there have been approximately 700 participants each year. The NYPD Bag Pipe and Drum Band has honored the KDM Foundation each year by beginning the race with a bag pipe tribute.
